LOS ANGELES: The family of Michael Jackson is considering a traditional Muslim burial for the pop icon who had converted to Islam months prior to
his death, says a new report.
A celebrity website reported quoting sources close to the family that Jackson’s new found will states that he will be buried in the traditions of his new faith.
“The family is considering following the Muslim burial traditions because Michael would have wanted to be laid to rest in keeping with his new-found religious beliefs. Michael’s brother Jermaine is educating the family as to the special rites,” the source said
Jackson had reportedly converted to Islam in November last year and taken the name of ‘Mikhaail’.
Meanwhile, a public viewing of the performer will take place on Friday at his fantasy themed abode California ranch, Neverland. There has been no official confirmation from Jackson’s family on the location where his body will be laid to rest.

Michael Jackson reportedly has converted to Islam in late 2008 and adopted the name Mikaeel, which is the name of one of Allah’s angels. Now, when there is still question of where the late superstar will be laid to rest, a new report has just emerged that he will be buried in a traditional Muslim funeral.
“The family is considering following the Muslim burial traditions because they believe Michael would have wanted to be laid to rest in keeping with his new-found religious beliefs,” a source close to the family stated. The insider continued telling X17 Online, “Michael’s brother Jermaine is educating the family as to the special rites because he feels it’s important to bury his brother according to the Muslim way.”
Previously, there was rumor that Michael’s body will be embalmed instead of being buried in his Islamic faith. The speculation raised since there was no indication that his body would be buried within two days of his death as dictated by the Koran.

Today, I spoke to with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, the Amir of the Muslim Alliance in North America and one of the most prominent imams in the United States. Imam Siraj sends his condolences to the family of Michael Jackson and well wishes to his family.
Yesterday, the Imam Siraj completed his last radiation treatment for prostate cancer (cancer 3X higher in African-Americans), yet expressed his eagerness to attend the janazah Muslims funeral service for Michael Jackson whenever it is held he said, “Even if I stand in the back, I want to be there”.
Someone asked me, “Why are we making a big deal about it!”. I say we are not making a BIG deal about it. It is the right of a Muslim to receive condolences and we are doing that by the Prophet’s (pbuh) instruction independent of the faith of the deceased. The burial of the dead is an obligation upon the living; it is called in Islamic terminologyfard kifiyya (collective obligation). No one can bury himself or herself; the living must bury the dead.

Imam Visits Michael Jackson’s Family to Discuss Funeral Arrangements

Al-Hamdulillah, CNN reported that the Jackson family is meeting with an imam to make the funeral arrangements for the janazah (Muslim funeral prayer) for Michael Jackson. I pray that Allah will have mercy on his soul and grant the family some privacy as they make the plans for a Muslim funeral. I ask Muslims to reserve their judgement and pray for him and his family. I pray that Muslims will respond to this loss our brother in every loving way possible. I do not know when and were the prayers will be. (CNN) — Entertainer Michael Jackson has died after being taken to a hospital on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest, according to multiple reports including the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press. CNN has not confirmed his death.
Michael Jackson arrives at UCLA Medical Center on Thursday.

Jackson, 50, had been in a coma at the hospital, sources told CNN.
Brian Oxman, a Jackson family attorney, said he was told by brother Randy Jackson that Michael Jackson collapsed at his home in west Los Angeles, California, Thursday morning.
Family members were told of the situation and were either at the hospital or en route, Oxman said.
Fire Capt. Steve Ruda told CNN a 911 call came in from a west Los Angeles residence at 12:21 p.m.
Ruda said Jackson was treated and transferred to the UCLA Medical Center.
Asked specifics of the patient’s condition, he said he could not discuss them because of federal privacy laws.
The music icon from Gary, Indiana, is known as the “King of Pop.” Jackson had many No. 1 hits and his “Thriller” is the best-selling album of all time.

Jackson is the seventh of nine children in a well-known musical family. He has three children, Prince Michael I, Paris and Prince Michael II.
At the medical center, every entrance to the emergency room was blocked by security guards. Even hospital staffers were not permitted to enter. A few people stood inside the waiting area, some of them crying.
A large crowd was also gathering outside the hospital, according to video footage.
Outside Jackson’s Bel Air home, police arrived on motorcycles. The road in front of the home was closed in an attempt to hold traffic back, but several people were gathered outside the home.
